We are really excited to be a part of World Child Project's 2009 Holiday Party! This Wednesday, December 9th, guests who attend will have the opportunity to make holiday cards, using Soolip materials, to be sent to children in orphanages in Mexico. Plus, we sent out Soolip Card Making Kits to a bunch of celebrities and their cards will be up for auction. Some of the celebrity designed and autographed cards received so far are from Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jennifer Aniston, Barry Watson and Zack Galifianakis, with more arriving daily! There will also be a silent auction for fantastic items like an all-inclusive trip for two couples to Turks and Caicos, American Idol tickets and designer pieces from the likes of Jimmy Choo, Diane Von Furstenberg, Cynthia Vincent and others! Latin singer Beto Cuevas will be performing as well and the cocktails and hors d'oeuvers will be going around all evening. It's a festive way to celebrate the holidays and give a part of yourself to someone less fortunate! Purchase tickets here and look for Wanda at the party near the card making tables, or if you can't make it, contribute a donation here. World Child Project (WCP) is a non-profit partnership in service of the most vulnerable among us: orphaned and abandoned children in developing countries. We help kids beat poverty and hopelessness and grow into loving, productive leaders who can become agents for change in the communities they grow up in. Like other forward-thinking non- profits, we focus on outcomes while adhering to strict for-profit standards of financial accountability and transparency. But we also distinguish ourselves in several key ways: (1) we leverage social networking technologies that allow us to tap into a wider pool of donors, volunteers, consultants and experts to solve problems on a project-to-project and a region-to-region basis; (2) we recognize that child poverty is a complex issue that requires a systemic reform based on innovative and interlocking social programs (education, medical, direct care); and (3) we understand that in order to create lasting social change we must identify the local leaders whose promising programs and ideas may require our short-term support, but not our long-term management. Our mission therefore is to identify the most effective programs serving orphaned and abandoned children in the most extreme poverty throughout the world, and to bring these programs to scale by quantifying their impact and providing local leadership with the training and data necessary to make a greater case for support.
